The Reduced Shakespeare Company is a unique experience. Their fast, funny, and slightly off-kilter approach to such traditional subjects as world history, William Shakespeare, and the world's greatest literature have won them international acclaim and sold out performances at such prestigious venues as The White House, The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, and Montreal's famed Just for Laughs Festival, just to name a few. With The Bible they have taken their irreverence to a new, higher level.
As they tell it themselves, We wrote The Bible (Abridged) when the good folks at Washington D.C.'s Kennedy Center requested a follow-up to our eight-week sold-out run of Shakespeare and America.
After workshops as far off-Broadway as possible (Alaska) the show premiered at the Kennedy Center in 1995. It ran for 12 sold-out weeks and received a Helen Hayes Award nomination for Outstanding New Play.
The Bible (Abridged) was recorded over three hectic days in London.

" Eh, not nearly as good as Shakespeare Abridged or Complete History of American Abridged. "
" Really, the subtitle is "abridged." It's not that I read an abridged version of the play. "
