Publisher Description

The Herdmans are the worst kids in the history of the world. They lie, steal, smoke cigars, swear, and hit little kids. So no one is prepared when this outlaw family invades church one Sunday and decides to take over the annual Christmas pageant.

None of the Herdmans have ever heard the Christmas story before. Their interpretation of the tale (the Wise Men are a bunch of dirty spies and Herod needs a good beating) has a lot of people up in arms. But it will make this year's pageant the most unusual anyone has seen and, just possibly, the best one ever.

"My grandmother owned this book, gave a copy to my mom, who gave a copy to me. When I was learning to read, my mom and I would take turns reading it to each other and every year, the three of us would get together for a reading. My mom and I continue the tradition to the current time. Such a wonderful story, fun and perfectly delightful every year when you get a little tired of too-perfect decorations and sappy holiday sentiments."

" I know most people have read this books at kids but it is worth a re-read. We read at part of my book group out loud to each other. I laughed even harder this time. I see it from two POVs now. One as a child. we all knew kids like this and another as a adult, who volunteers time for their church. "
