It's finally time for Dinah Davis to go home. The world-weary correspondent wants to settle down with the sweet guy she left behind in South Carolina's Low Country. Instead, she's confronted by his black-sheep brother, and - despite her longing for serenity - sparks fly.

How can she possibly trade her perfectly safe backup plan for a risk-taking guy like Cordell Beaufort after all the dangers she's already faced? But to Dinah's dismay - backup plan or not - her heart has its own ideas.

" on audio. I liked this book, it was great on audio, I'm not sure it would have held my attention in paperback only because I am really busy. I "read" the entire book while painting a room and driving in my car to run errands. I actually looked forward to it! I really liked the characters and I'm looking forward to spending more time with them in the rest of the series. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Nancy Houston Fields | 2/18/2014

" Thought I'd never get through it. Did not like the main character, but that is not necessarily a bad thing as the writer did create a strong character. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Judith | 2/16/2014

" This is the first title in the Charleston trilogy. Dinah Davis left home 10 years ago to follow her dream as a foreign correspondent. After she has a very bad experience, she quits her job and goes back home - hoping to marry a childhood sweetheart - her backup plan. Instead she ends up spending time with his brother, Cordell Beaufort, and he helps her to heal. Very good story "

" I started this series out of order and read the second book first so it was nice to go back and see how the series began as well as revisit characters from book 2. I really enjoyed the story and thought the characters were great. Another typical Sherryl Woods story, which makes it a winner for me. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Ty | 2/4/2014

" Great quick read. Characters are realistic, storyline is unique and moves along at a good rate. I will have to read more of her books. "

" Audiobook; Ok book. Very light reading, not a lot of depth to the characters. Pretty good story. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Alyssa | 1/17/2014

" I like Sherryl Woods' books. They're good romances with actual plot and while the ultimate end is predictable, at least the plots aren't. This one had me teary at several points and several parts of it really had me thinking about life choices. Not bad for a trashy romance novel. "

" I did like this book. Got interrupted with 3 other books along the way though. Takes place in SC, and the problems faced must be awful for those newspeople covering the wars. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Becky | 11/12/2013

" I had a hard time liking Dinah since she comes across as selfish and thoughtless most of the time. Otherwise I liked the story and will read the next in this trilogy. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Alex | 10/17/2013

" This is about the low country of S.Carolina. Needed a change, so picked a romance. It was pretty good. The first in a trilogy. "

" Cute read. Well written. Would recommend this as a beach chair read. The book has a small town feel with some sweet people in it. ( Audio book was great, read well ) "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Jackie | 9/4/2013

" very predictable. I actually read the first chapter and then skipped to the middle, read a few pages and skipped to the last few pages. Called it good as I got the whole book in that. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Jacque | 5/17/2013

" I like the men in this book, and the mother. I didn't care for the way Dinah Davis thought the man she left behind would always take her back. She even considered breaking up his engagement. Seemed thoughtless. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Kami London | 5/14/2013

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Jeanette | 7/28/2012

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Carolyn | 6/14/2012

" This was the first book of Sheryl Woods that I have read, and I am pretty sure it will be my last. I did not find the characters dialogue believable. It was all just a little too neat and tidy all the way through. And the set up at the end of the book for her next one seemed forced. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Nancy | 6/8/2012
