Publisher Description

The Adventure of the Gloria Scott appeared in The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes. This story is unusual in that it is related mainly by Holmes rather than Watson. It is the very first case in which Holmes applied his powers of deduction to solve a case.Up till that time he had treated his deductive powerers as a hobby.

"I was pleasantly surprised. I had picked up some Sherlock Holmes years ago and could not get through the book. Now, I found it amusing and clever. I also liked that this was a series of short stories. i could not wait to get to the next one and I was disappointed when the ride was over. "

" Many of these mysteries have been done in film and tv. Was very interesting to read them, and cross over some of the famous quotes that are used so often. It's hard to think of Sherlock and Watson as characters, they have been so imbued into our culture they deserve to be real. "

About Arthur Conan Doyle

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930) was born of Irish parentage in Scotland. He studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh, but he also had a passion for storytelling. His first book introduced that prototype of the modern detective in fiction, Sherlock Holmes. Despite the immense popularity Holmes gained throughout the world, Doyle was not overly fond of the character and preferred to write other stories. Eventually popular demand won out and he continued to satisfy readers with the adventures of the legendary sleuth. He also wrote historical romances and made two essays into pseudoscientific fantasy: The Lost World and The Poison Belt.
