Publisher Description

Silas Blackburn is killed on the day before he intended to remove his grandson from his will. For some strange reason he decided to sleep where many of his family have died in agony and he is found dead in this locked and abandoned room. How did someone get in? And who did it? The detectives who show up to investigate the case suspect any number of characters, including the grandson who has no memory of what he did that night but who was in the area. Those trying to solve the mystery even begin to wonder if there are ghosts or some kind of paranormal activity in the house.

A fast-paced story with twists and turns that is also just a bit spooky!

Wadsworth Camp was a reclusive American writer who served as a correspondent during World War I. Camp published six mysteries during his lifetime, but his most popular novel by far was The Abandoned Room.

"Great setting with diverse characters. The ending caught me totally by surprise. The writing style was also very modern, which I did not expect. Highly recommended for an engaging and fast read."

" A classic locked-room mystery published in 1917. The story got bogged down in the middle. Then there was a great twist and it got exciting again. However, the ending was just too convenient. "
