Publisher Description

During her nightly, clandestine swim in the freezing winter ocean, a grisly find leads Jane to startling revelations about her heritage: she is only half-human.

Now, Jane must enter a world filled with supernatural creatures that are terrifying, beautiful, and deadly - all of which perfectly describe her new friend, Ryu, a gorgeous and powerful vampire.

It is a world where nothing can be taken for granted: a dog can heal with a lick; spirits bag your groceries; and whatever you do, never -ever - rub the genie's lamp.

If you love Sookie Stackhouse, then you'll want to dive into Nicole Peeler's enchanting debut novel.

"This book is UF candy for the mind! I love Peeler's style, and the personality she has molded into her main character, Jane. I don't want to spoil anything, but I ate it up! Book Two is next! "

" Tempest Rising was fun reading but the book won't become one of my all time faves. There are some really funny lines to read, esp. when Ryu und Jane are talking to eachother or when Jane is just thinking to herself. But for me the book is not worth a re-read and I thinkt the sequel will also need to wait a little time for me.... "

" I'm not going to do a full review on this one...but I will say that a) I did like it, but b) I wasn't grabbed enough to continue with the series, though c) fans of the Sookie Stackhouse (Charlaine Harris) series will probably REALLY like Jane. "

" A light, amusing read. The humor in this book was the asset. I thought the story was a tad weak and Mrs. Peeler took a lot of inspiration from other fantasy novels^^ "
