Publisher Description

An accidental remark on a television programme lands novelist Anne Medlicott in a potentially damaging libel suit. The programme is about Nazi sympathisers in England during the last war, and the other two guests are a distinguished exile from Germany and a painter. Anne has known both of these people from childhood - or has she?

,p>Forced out of the comfortable cocoon which she has woven round her life, Anne faces truths which are considerably harsher, more painful - and more healing - than she had ever imagined.

" I liked the historical aspects about WWII, but there were so many characters to keep track of. Maybe I shouldn't have tried to read it with lots of people around to distract me. "

" This was definitely an engaging book - couldn't put it down, which is how I read it so quickly. But I'm not really sure what I came away from it with. It told a strangely tangled story set in Germany and England during the 1930s, 1940s, and 1990s. "
