During World War II, a family's life is turned upside down when the government opens a Japanese internment camp in their small Colorado town. After a young girl is murdered, all eyes (and suspicions) turn to the newcomers, the interlopers, the strangers.

Rennie Stroud has never seen it before. She has just turned 13 and, until this time, life has pretty much been what her father told her it should be: predictable and fair. But now the winds of change are coming and, with them, a shift in her perspective. And Rennie will discover secrets that can destroy even the most sacred things.

Part thriller, part historical novel, Tallgrass is a riveting exploration of the darkest and best parts of the human heart.

" This is a story told from the eyes of a thirteen year old girl in Colorado in the 1940's. She live near Tallgrass a Japanese internment camp. AS usual very descriptive characters and a moving story line from Sandra Dallas. "

" As with a lot of Sanda Dallas' books, I have a hard time getting started in these books. But then about a quarter way through they get really good. This book did have a lot of characters and it was a little confusing at first trying to keep everyone straight. But I did end up enjoying this book. "

" Good but "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" was better since they cover the same topic. "
