Sullivan's Island (Abridged): A Lowcountry Tale Audiobook

" Dorothea Frank took me on a tour of 20th century Sullivan's Island and Charleston as well and I so enjoyed the visit! Born and raised on the Island, and gifted with the art of writing beautifully, no one else could do it better! She was home as she wrote this story and so, also is the reader, settled in a comfy chase lounge on that huge beachfront porch reading about the low-country and the main character's return to her dysfunctional childhood in order to come to grips with the difficult circumstances of the present. "

" Sorry ladies, I liked this book well enough, but didn't think it was anything special. I sympathised with Susan's plight, enjoyed her revenge and growth and was left with a sense of place, but still something was lacking for me. The fairy-tale ending I could live with, but the eventual discovery of who had been responsible for the death of her father felt like an anti-climax and I think I found the whole thing somewhat over-sentimental, albeit in a girl-power/sisters-rule sort of way. "
