Publisher Description

In the small Midwestern town of Harmony, Lucas Cantrell is captain of the high school football team, has a pretty girlfriend, and works for his father on weekends. But Lucas can't help feeling that there must be more to life than getting married and joining his father's used-car business. Then Lucas meets Allie. The strange, middle-aged woman has come to Harmony hoping that its atmosphere will match its name. When she shares the story of her past with Lucas, it is an astonishing tale of rebellion, social protest, and their consequences. Allie gives Lucas the perspective he needs to see what lies beyond Harmony.

ALA Award-winning author Barbara Shoup has received many writing fellowships. She is writer-in-residence at a center for the performing arts and coordinates an arts workshop for high school students. Stranded in Harmony is a compelling picture of the difficult choices facing many young people in small towns.
