In Stone Cold, Police Chief Jesse Stone has a problem. Actually, several problems: dead bodies turning up, and no clues. A man takes his dog out for a run on the beach, only to be discovered hour later-with two holes in his chest. A woman drives her Volvo to the mall to do some grocery shopping, and is found dead, and never makes it back to her house.
Investigating a serial killer in an affluent suburban town is difficult, and with the added pressures from the town selectmen and media, the heat is turned up on Jesse. The harder these outside forces push against him, the more Jesse retreats into himself, convinced - despite all the odds - that it's up to him alone to stop the killing.

"Welcome edition to the Jesse Stone series. I really enjoyed listening to this one in the car. Robert Forster's narration was terrific and the story was fast paced and well written. I kept imagining Tom Selleck in my mind as I listened. Recommended. " — Vivian (4 out of 5 stars)

" Another Parker, "Ain't I sensitive and macho," book. Ho-hum. "
" Did you know that they made movies out of these books? "
" Listened to this on audiobook and found myself enjoying the story but not enjoying hearing "Jesse said" "____ said" all the time. The dialogue was good enough that you really don't need to hear who said what because it was pretty obvious. "
" Loved this book. What a twist. "
" A very quick piece of brain candy. Parker's herky-jerky "hardboiled" style is a little over the top, and his characters are only a touch more than two-dimensional, but what the hell. It is what it is. A fun read. "
" Should have stopped after reading the back cover. "
" This was a quick audio book. The story was interesting but I got frustrated with Jesse Stone's obsession with his ex-wife. "
" Another Bon Bon. Not as good as some. All the good guys speak the same. Still like them. "
" my first parker. spare, to the point, good mystery, I liked Jesse's take on the world. Will probably read more "
" I like how Jesse Stone solves his cases. I like the humor in the books but I do not like his ex-wife and their unhealthy relationship and his relationships with other women and the bottle. He is compassionate under the tough exterior, smart in a Columbo sort of way. Nasty bad guys here. "
" A Jesse Stone novel. Quick read. Plausible story. Rough language. "
" This was a good book, except for all the "he said" "she said" "
