Publisher Description

Michael Hordern stars as Jeeves, with Richard Briers as Bertie, in a BBC Radio 4 full-cast dramatisation. It's the stuff of nightmares for Bertie as he is hauled back to Totleigh Towers and the whole loony crew of Madeline, Gussie, Roderick Spode, Stiffy Byng, and the dog Bartholomew.

"A load of fun but unfortunately something of a bad ending. Wodehouse's humor is up to par and Bertie is his usual self, but somehow Jeeves just doesn't come across as wildly skillful/intelligent as he does in other Wooster/Jeeves novels. Still, tons of fun, but not the best in the series. "

" Very much like the first P.G. Wodehouse book I read in characters and plot. You have to be in the right mood for this and I'm not sure exactly what mood that would be. Glad I read them but it will be awhile, if ever, if I read Wodehouse again. "

" Jeeves hates Bertie's hat. Bertie likes the horrendous hat. Fink-Nottle is going veggie--unwillingly. Madeline thinks that fog is the faerie's sheets. Spode is now Lord Sipcup. And Stiffy wants Bertie to steal a figurine. Hilarity ensues. "

About P. G. Wodehouse

Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse (1881–1975) was an English humorist who wrote novels, short stories, plays, poems, song lyrics, and numerous pieces of journalism. He was highly popular throughout a career that lasted more than seventy years, and his many writings continue to be widely read. He is best known for his novels and short stories of Bertie Wooster and his manservant Jeeves and for his settings of English upper-class society of the pre– and post–World War I era. He lived in several countries before settling in the United States after World War II. During the 1920s, he collaborated with Broadway legends like Cole Porter and George Gershwin on musicals and, in the 1930s, expanded his repertoire by writing for motion pictures. He was honored with a knighthood in 1975.
