Publisher Description

Mischievous and resolved, courageous to the point of recklessness, Anakin Skywalker has come of age in a time of great upheaval. The 19-year-old apprentice to Obi-Wan Kenobi is an enigma to the Jedi Council, and a challenge to his Jedi Master. Time has not dulled Anakin's ambition, nor has his Jedi training tamed his independent streak. When an attempt on Senator Padme Amidala's life brings them together for the first time in 10 years, it is clear that time also has not dulled Anakin's intense feelings for the beautiful diplomat.

The attack on Senator Amidala just before a crucial vote thrusts the Republic even closer to the edge of disaster. Masters Yoda and Mace Windu sense enormous unease. The dark side is growing, clouding the Jedi's perception of the events. Unbeknownst to the Jedi, a slow rumble is building into the roar of thousands of soldiers readying for battle. But even as the Republic falters around them, Anakin and Padme find a connection so intense that all else begins to fall away. Anakin will lose himself. and his way, in emotions a Jedi, sworn to hold allegiance only to the Order, is forbidden to have.

Based on the story by George Lucas and the screenplay by George Lucas and Jonathan Hales, this intense and revealing novel by best-selling author R.A. Salvatore sheds new light on the legend of Star Wars, and skillfully illuminates one of our most beloved sagas.

"This is my favorite out of all the Star Wars movies, so I was really excited to read this book! I was already familiar with R.A. Salvatore's work, since I am a fan of his Drizzt series, so reading this book felt like slipping somewhere warm, cozy, and familiar. What I really enjoyed the most about this book however, is that it is much more than a novelization which simply parrots back the dialogue from the film. The author really delves into the characters thoughts and feelings, deepening the experiance even more. I have always swooned over the forbidden relationship between Anakin and Padme, so it was wonderful to see this aspect really brought to light alot more as well."

" Good book. Read it after I had watched the movie and they added a few parts that are kind of boring., but it describes some things a little more and clears up some questionable parts in the movie. "

" More enjoyable than the movie (but most novelizations are, to me). Including scenes deleted from the script helps smooth out some of the movie's awkwardness, especially the Anakin/Padme romance. "

" I think that RA Salvatore is a good author overall, but this book didn't impress me that much. Possibly something to do with the fact that its film counterpart was the worst of the saga. I can't remember much, but the narration was a little better than I feel Lucas did. "

" I really didn't like this author's writing style. There was no flow, no emotion. Just words and facts presented clumsily. The story felt forced, and I had a hard time making myself finish it. "
