Listener Opinions

" So much better than the movie. (When is that ever not true though?) It gave so much more insight into what the characters were feeling/thinking and why they were doing what they were doing. And it was spectacular to have for a Star Wars geek, eagerly awaiting the new movies. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Eli Thompson | 2/17/2014

" I had some trouble putting down this book "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Rose | 2/13/2014

" The movies were extremely disappointing and the books were no exception. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Barbara | 2/7/2014

" Star Wars...what more do I have to say! "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Philip | 2/6/2014

" I wish George Lucas had made this book as his movie. So much better than the film! Far more insight into Anakin's character and all of George's clunky dialogue gets rewritten by a real writer. Read this and help soothe away the memory of the weakest Star Wars film. No Star Wars fan should deny themselves this pleasure. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Wesley | 2/6/2014

" Suprisingly good adaptation to a pretty bad movie. Terry Brooks is actually a decent writer. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 steven | 1/20/2014

" Pretty well done. Terry Brooks explores some of the more obscure parts of Sith and Jedi lore, pushing the boundaries of what was shown in the movie. While he was no doubt limited to the direction of the plot (this is a novelization, after all), he adds his own touch to the story. People do exactly the same things, but maybe in a slightly different order and for slightly different reasons. Even Jar-Jar isn't as annoying, and Qui-Gon's decision to bring him along is portrayed as part of his flawed character. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Mark | 1/18/2014

" While, as expected, it follows the movie pretty well, it does include elements not in the movie. Star Wars fans will not be disappointed. For the 0.0001% of the population that is not aware of the Star Wars universe it will probably be a little underwhelming. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Bhone | 12/10/2013

" I like it very much. I think it is better than Movie. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Sisp4c-andrewlam | 12/7/2013

" It was exciting ,but also sad beacause Qui gon jin a jedi master got killed by darth maul but darth maul got killed by obi-wan "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Katielibrary | 11/26/2013

" now I'm a star wars fan, but I cannot get into graphic novels...the jedi discover the sith are behind the attacks on queen amidalas planet. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Brandon Meikle | 11/9/2013

" Not my favourite Star Wars book, but was OK. Good detail (likle most) with good story line. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Sarah Maddaford | 11/3/2013

" I liked Brooks' novelization of the movie. It wasn't so in line with the movie that it felt like a repeat. It was well written and paced, but the story just isn't as good as some of his non-Star Wars stuff. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Xion | 10/25/2013

" Pretty much the movie with just a few longer or extra scenes that were cut from filming . "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 C.D. Hussey | 3/5/2013

" I hated this movie, but loved the book. Go figure. Course I'm a huge Terry Brooks fan. But in the book, I didn't even find Jar-Jar binks annoying. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Jacinta | 1/26/2013

" A faithful re-telling of the book, with a little more internal monologue. Fun, but turns out that it's not really a strong enough story to bear the kind of attention it gets without explosions to distract you. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Tom | 10/10/2012

    " ... Better than the movie? "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Jessie | 7/20/2012

" Midichlorians and immaculate conceptions don't fly any better in book form than they did on screen "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Mike | 6/16/2012

" I think I read this only because of my intense love of Star Wars, which would dramatically wane with each subsequent film... "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Jason Burggraaf | 6/10/2012

" Like most of the novelisations of the prequels, they are better than the movies and really tell a more complete story. Parts of this one are better than the book. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Zak | 6/4/2012

" Iv seen the movie so it wasn't as good as the movie. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Benjamin | 4/27/2011

" Well, the novelization improved slightly on a truly horrible, one-star movie, so that sounds like two stars to me. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Damon | 3/28/2011

" I mostly read the action parts from the movie- this was written after the movie so there are no new great insights. The dialogue is pretty verbatum from the movie so it's not that exciting. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Terence | 3/3/2011

" It was better than the movie. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Rafael | 2/3/2011

" This book is good. It is very exciting. It has a lot of political content and war content. If you watched the movie, I think you will enjoy it more and understand it better. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Anjie | 1/7/2011

" I feel that George Lucas had too short a leash on Terry....it seemed like he wrote straight from the script. It was alright, but didn't feel like a Terry Brooks novel. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 La Chipie | 11/30/2010

" Aussi mauvais que le film, à mon avis. Lu parce que c'est Starwars. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Michelle | 11/7/2010

" It's a fairly decent book. If you've seen the movie then you've read the book basically, nothing is really different which isn't surprising since this came out after the movie. "
