Hoping to stem the growing tide of unrest, Valorum convenes an emergency trade summit on the planet Eriadu. At his request, a group of Jedi Knights is sent to protect the delegates from possible terrorist attack. But what should have been a simple peacekeeping assignment turns out to be a mission into the heart of a political firestorm. " Sort of convoluted and dull. "

" Not being a big fan of the prequels, I put off reading this for a while. I was pleasantly surprised when I finally got around to reading it. It was well written, had some good action, and added a whole new level of understanding to what was going on in the galaxy right before Episode 1. "

" This is a boring book. I guess it's cool set up for episode I, but I find a few of the main characters just kind of dreadfully boring. Oh, and the story line about that one dude's girlfriend leaving and then coming back just to die is terrible and needs to never happen in a book ever. It's so bad. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Meadow | 12/10/2013

" This book was kind of confusing. The used HUGE words way to much. But overall it was a great Star Wars book. "

" I didn't really enjoy this book. I like political thrillers, but this book just didn't do it for me. I think it was the way it was written. "

" As I finally go through the Star Wars books chronologically, this was an interesting take on the pre-Phantom Menace time. Shows a lot of the tension and back story of the Supreme Chancellor that you don't get in Phantom. It's OK. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Stephan Randle | 8/20/2012

" This book showed me Darth Sidious' political side and how he created the way for the Sith to rule. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Billy Maise | 7/6/2011

" If Supreme Chancellor Valorum takes up the most space on the cover of the Star Wars novel you're about to read, it's probably going to be lame. And yes, it was pretty lame. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Amber | 5/12/2011

" Cloak of Deception was just okay for a Star Wars book. It focused too much on the politics for me, though seeing glimpses of OT characters like Tarkin was neat. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Eric | 9/29/2010

" Jacen solo completely loses any appeal at all in this book. I loved one of Kyp's faction pulling a bone head stunt like he does, but you gotta respect the follow thru. Not a bad book in all, at times made me want to pull my hair out but all in all not bad. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Lindsey | 2/26/2010

" Not really very good, but necessary for later New Jedi Order developments. Like its immediate predecessor, it's only for Star Wars fans who are looking to read the whole New Jedi Order series. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Kim | 8/29/2009

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Matt | 3/6/2009

" The New Jedi Order is my favorite series in the Star Wars Expanded Universe. It is a long and epic story, with large ramifications for all the Expanded Universe characters. It will keep you busy for a while! "

" Slightly weaker than the book that proceeeded it. "
