Publisher Description

As the Jedi and the Republic focus on internal struggles, a new threat surfaces beyond the farthest reaches of the Outer Rim. An enemy appears from outside known space, bearing weapons and technology unlike anything New Republic scientists have ever seen. Suddenly, Luke, Mara, Leia, Han Solo, and Chewbacca, along with their children, are thrust again into battle, to defend the freedom so many have fought and died for. But this time, all their courage, sacrifice, and even the power of the Force itself, may not be enough.

" This is a horrible book: it takes far too long to get going, and goes to slowly when it does. I didn't get into the New Jedi Order books until a few years after it started because I could not get through this book. I want to be clear that I don't have anything against the author, I've read some of his other star wars stuff and enjoyed it but I don't think his style was well suited to launch this series. "

" It was alright. It had the typical Skywalker and Solo family save the world theme in it. A couple of sad moments. The YV were a nice polar opposite of the Force. "

" I enjoyed this often controversial Star Wars book. I would not rank it among the best Star Wars books, but more as a passable sci-fi novel. I do really enjoy the way the author has taken the series, as it is a nice change to see a truly new enemy arise, instead of the Republic having to beat back the Empire that never seems to die. Hopefully more details and characters will be brought forward in the following books. Overall not a bad read, but certainly nothing amazing. "

" Not very good to be honest. The enemies were unbelievable , the technology literally made no sense and chewie dies right away. The ending made no sense and was not good. It's a Star Wars book and was kind of "fun" to read but I would not recommend this book to anyone. "
