Publisher Description

New York Times bestselling author Michael A. Stackpole continues The New Jedi Order epic with Dark Tide II: Ruin, a thrilling Star Wars adventure in which the Jedi Knights must fight their most treacherous battle—against an unrelenting evil intent on devouring the galaxy. . . .

The alien Yuuzhan Vong have launched an attack on the worlds of the Outer Rim.  They are merciless, without regard for life—and they stand utterly outside the Force.  Their ever-changing tactics stump the New Republic military. Even the Jedi, once the greatest guardians of peace in the galaxy, are rendered helpless by this impervious foe—and their solidarity has begun to unravel.

While Luke struggles to keep the Jedi together, Knights Jacen Solo and Corran Horn set off on a reconnaissance mission to the planet Garqi, an occupied world. There, at last, they uncover a secret that might be used to undermine the enemy—if only they can stay alive long enough to use it!

"The new Jedi order completely outpaces anything in the Starwars genre. This series was Dark, exciting, fast paced, and inspired. The writing was fantastic and the level of philosophy and force history was unparalleled. If your a fan at any level of the Starwars Universe than this series is a must read. It is on my top 5 of all time for a series and I treasured every moment I spent in that time. But beware, this isn't your typical Starwars book, be ready for a level of intensity that you've never seen. May the force be with you.!"

" A book in the series where the dreaded Vong is attacking the galaxy that is far,far away. The reader needs to read the other books in this series to understand what is going on. This was a nice, quick read in the expanded universe. Nothing spectacular and this is not the finale of the series. It does what it is intended to do. Moves the story along to the next book in the series. I did enjoy the scenes where the Imperial Remnant where involved. It was nice to see them involved in the galaxy's present situation. "

" My feelings about the New Jedi Order series are still fairly much the same from the last book: I have a hard time excepting the Yuuzhan Vong as they exist. However, I enjoyed this story immensely. I look forward to continuing the series just so I can see where it goes. "

" Not a particularly exciting book as far as Star Wars novels go. It felt more like a novel that continues to set up the Yuuzhan Vong rather than anything else - which I suppose is really what it was meant to be. "

" Stackpole crafts a rather imaginative and engaging story. He seems to have an acceptable grasp of the characters, but goes a little awry in the midddle. He does get things back on track for a rewarding finish. "

" Pretty good. I don't think it'll be my favorite in the series due to Stackpole's undeniable Tom Clancy-like technical writing style, but still a necessary step in the overall story. "

" It was a well written book, but after two chapters of the next book, Agent of Chaos by James Luceno, I found that Stackpole's style is nowhere near as vibrant as Luceno's and it's for that reason that I gave it three stars instead of 4. "

" Epic story, with a weak end. Not the final Battle to be sure. But the stupidity of the Republic at this point is staggering. I mean I get that fear is over ruling logic, but the blame game is just silly. I say the Jedi leave them to their fates. Corran is the man. "
