The Enterprise's central computer becomes infatuated with James Kirk - just as a Romulan warship attacks! But the attack is a deadly feint. The Romulans are being ravaged by a killer plague, and to save their civilization they must invade Canara, where the only known antidote can be found. Suddenly the galaxy is hurtling toward war. The Canarans threaten mass suicide and the Federation masses a counterattack against the Romulans. Kirk, his amorous computer, and the Enterprise crew have one chance left to avert an all-out conflagration: they must save their most dangerous enemies - and deliver the Romulans the antidote at any cost.

"Generally pretty good, although I thought it lacked a sense of place on Romulus and the farm world came in just right at the end. " — Felicia (4 out of 5 stars)
"Generally pretty good, although I thought it lacked a sense of place on Romulus and the farm world came in just right at the end. "
" Pretty good. Only distracting thing was that Murdock didn't see to have a perception of how was warp actually is. Warp 6 as a evasive manoeuvre? Warp 1 to edge around a planet? Unlikely. "
" Slow start; a bit hard to get into but then redeemed itself somewhat by the end. "
" Not bad. A likeable read. "
" Generally pretty good, although I thought it lacked a sense of place on Romulus and the farm world came in just right at the end. "
" Another Star Trek book about the origional crew. The story was a little simplistic but decent. "
" This is a good example of Trek fiction. The characters were well thought out, the plot was original, and the secondary plot of the Enterprise having a 'personality' was well put out. "
" Classic Star Trek "
" Disposable Star Trek entertainment. Had this been a television episode, it would be equivalent to some third-season filler story. "
" BBQ sauce for the casual SciFi reader. "
" The storyline is predicable and it's been done many times...but this is one of the first, and Romulans are always fun. "
" Not a bad read---I may have read it before; I read so many of the ST books that I can't remember which I read before :) If you like Start Trek: The Original Series, it's not bad. If you don't, not really worth the read. "
