Publisher Description

William Roache has been an actor on Britain's best-loved soap opera Coronation Street, for over 47 years - making him the world's longest-serving soap star.

This abridged audio book is read by the author himself. As a young actor William auditioned for a TV drama that was likely to be running for only a few weeks. Now, 47 years later, he is the only original cast member and the soap's success has established him as a household name. Over the course of that time, William's character Ken Barlow has been married four times, twice to Deirdre, and had a series of tumultuous affairs.

This gripping story will appeal to fans of 'The Street' and will make inspiring listening for anyone interested in personal development. After leaving the Army William Roache MBE turned to acting, with roles in Skyport, Knight Errant Limited, The Bulldog Breed and Marking Time. Whilst at Granada filming Biggles, he was picked out by Tony Warren as the Ken Barlow. He appeared in the first episode, and is the only remaining actor from that original episode to still appear in The Street. In 2000 he was awarded an MBE for services to TV drama.

"Not a big autobiography fan, but enjoyed this as a light read. Ended up thinking he's a nice guy who has got life in perspective."

" An alright read however far to much spirital guidance. Intresting but I wanted a real insight onto the street, the title is very misleading I have to say. I was expecting so much more from this book. Disapointed. "

" I found this a little disappointing. In Soul on the Street Roache gets a bit too metaphysical for my taste. Perhaps I was expecting a different kind of "soul". "
