Publisher Description

As Proverbs fits squarely into the genre of advice to a son literature, so the Song of Songs fits squarely into the genre of erotic love poetry. Traditionally read as an allegory of God's love for Israel or of Christ's love for the Church, Logos Bible Study's Dr. Bill Creasy explores the Song of Songs as what it is, first and foremost: an erotic love poem written by Solomon in the final years of his life, a poem tinged with deep regret and longing.

"One of the best books I have ever read. Morrison has a way to twist reality to a point that nothing makes sense but everything is understood. The storyline is a complex blend that every time you read it you learn something new about not only the characters but about yourself as well. Great book!"

" I really wasn't all that impressed with this book. Primarily, I just didn't understand where it was going, and what all of the plot threads meant in relation to each other. By the end of the book, I still didn't fully get it, but that's okay. I've wanted to read this book for a long time, and I'm glad I finally did it, even if I didn't end up liking it all that much. "

" Toni Morrison is a fantastic writer, and conveys everything in the book brilliantly. However I personally like books I read to have plots, which Song of Solomon really didn't achieve. "

" An Oprah pick. As with all of Toni Morrison's books, I'm glad I've read them but they are rather hard for me to get through. They are better read in a classroom or at least with people with whom a discussion can be held. "

" As I think back on it, I like this book, but while I was reading it I didn't particularly connect with it. I think I like the idea of this novel much more than it's execution. The sentences, however, are excellent as always. "

" This woman can write! She creates characters who you have never met, but would recognize as soon as you passed them. I could say the same for Carson McCullers. It is a joy to read a great writer every once in a while. You remember how words can be poetry even in a 300 plus page novel. "
