Publisher Description

Since he was a small boy, Mosab Hassan Yousef has had an inside view of the deadly terrorist group Hamas. The oldest son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, a founding member of Hamas and its most popular leader, young Mosab assisted his father for years in his political activities while being groomed to assume his legacy, politics, status... and power. But everything changed when Mosab turned away from terror and violence, and embraced instead the teachings of another famous Middle East leader.

In Son of Hamas, Mosab Yousef - now called Joseph - reveals new information about the world's most dangerous terrorist organization and unveils the truth about his own role, his agonizing separation from family and homeland, the dangerous decision to make his newfound faith public, and his belief that the Christian mandate to love your enemies is the only way to peace in the Middle East.

"There is so much propaganda circulating about the Middle East. In my experience, Western news tends to pour in from two extreme camps. Most Americans feel they must chose between either a blind allegiance toward Israel (regardless of her actions) or the belief that Islam is a fundamentally peaceful religion. For years I have wrestled with these choices, as neither felt accurate. Every 'expert' I have found in the past has left me with the sensation that he/she was pulling for one political faction or another, smoothing over hard facts for the sake of argument. Who would have thought I would find my first point of resonance in a voice that emerged from the deepest heart of Hamas? It's likely that Yousef will die because of this book. His words are dangerous. Yet, I am so thankful he had the courage to tell me what it was like growing up under Israeli occupation. He has finally shown me his world in three dimensions, and I am deeply grateful."

" Very interesting; writing wasn't great, and there was a bit too much Jesus stuff, but other than that, a great read! "

" This isn't one you "like" or enjoy, it is one you read with sadness for the world we live in--that such conflicts and betrayals occur. Rejoicing that one man has found his Savior Jesus and is spreading the Good News of the peace found with Him. "

" The trouble with first person singular authorship is that it quickly falls into an ego fest. I didnt find very much insight into the Palestinian/ Israeli question. Sad stories, not much depth. "

" Great quick read (and true story) about the son of a Hamas leader who becomes involved in terrorism, converts to Christianity and is then forced to flee the Middle East. Fast paced read. Very interesting to see an insiders perspective on the violence in the Middle East. "

" This book is a good spy story maybe 3-3.5 stars, the thing that makes it 5 stars is that it is a true story. Mosab tells his story, and Hamas' story from the start up until now. Showing many sides of a complicated and important issue. "
