Now a major motion picture starring Alfre Woodard, Jessica Collins, John Heard, Jacinda Barrett, Cloris Leachman, and Talitha Bateman—in theaters October 2017!

From acclaimed author Sarah Weeks comes a touching coming-of-age story about a young girl who goes on a cross-country journey to discover the truth about her parents, which the New York Times called "a remarkable novel." Perfect for fans of Rebecca Stead's When You Reach Me and Ali Benjamin's The Thing About Jellyfish.

She doesn't know when her birthday is or who her father is. In fact, everything about Heidi and her mentally disabled mother's past is a mystery. When a strange word in her mother's vocabulary begins to haunt her, Heidi sets out on a cross-country journey in search of the secrets of her past.

Far away from home, pieces of her puzzling history come together. But it isn't until she learns to accept not knowing that Heidi truly arrives.

"So B. It is a life changing tale for Heidi It. Yes It ids her last name at least she thinks. Heidi's tale earned 5 stars easily. Heidi is 12 years old and lives in Reno, Nevada. Her mother is mentally challenged and can not take care of her so her loving neighbor Bernadette takes care of Heidi and her mother in this part i felt a great connection in this part I have two wonderful neighbors that would do anything for us. Heidi doesn't mind knowing not knowing anythng about her self until soof comes into her life. Soof is one of the 23 words her mother knows. Soof haunts Heidi in her dreams and every day thoughts Sarah Weeks described this part very well like as if you were being haunted by the word as if you were the character. In one of Heidi's homeschooled lessons she stumbles upon a roll of film she gets the film developed and finds pictures of her mother and a sign that says Hilltop Home. She shows her mother the pictures and her mother says soof but Heidi can not get her to say what soof is. Heidi decides she has to go to Hilltop home to learn about her past. So B. It is a life changing book it makes you wonder what it would feel like to not know anything about yourself. I would recomend this book to anyone who likes adventure and mystery. So B. It is a heart filled tale that would be a great summer read. This book can be found at any library or bookstore under Sarah Weeks."
