Smooth Talking Stranger is one of those books that shows how two totally different lives, in different worlds, with opposite personalities, can collide and create chaos.
Ella Varner has it all together. In fact she has it so together she solves other people's problems in her advice column. Everything in her life is responsible, intentional, and planned. That is, until a baby comes along. The baby isn't even hers. It belongs to her sister, Tara, who decided motherhood wasn't for her, and left him with her mother. Her mother decided Ella was the best one to deal with the infant, since a grandchild would definitely inhibit her social schedule. Ella decides to attack this problem with her usual practicality and travels to Houston to take control.
Jack Travis' reputation precedes him and everyone in Houston knows him as a wild, wealthy real estate developer. When Ella shows up demanding a paternity test from him, he wants to run the other way, but there's something in her that intrigues him. Likewise, Jack doesn't fit the image she had of him in her mind, and she's surprised by her attraction to him.
As the two work out the details of who is going to care for the baby, Ella starts to care for little Luke, and is quickly growing attached to him. At the same time, things are heating up between Ella and Jack, yet love and trust doesn't fit into her nice, neat, ordinary life. Can she open herself to being in relationship that might stretch her beyond her usual boundaries?
Lisa Kleypas, former Miss Massachusetts, started writing novels during her summer vacations while attending Wellesley College. Her parents agreed to let her finish a manuscript after graduation before looking for a job in her field of political science, and she ended up selling the book immediately. From that time on, she has been writing both historical and contemporary romance novels. She lives in Washington with her husband and two children.
"My goodness, I just love this series! This book, Ella & Jack's book, was so great! I really liked Jack, he was so confident and sure of himself, he knew exactly what he wanted.I can't wait for Lisa Kleypas to write her next book about Joe!
