" Love this one! Parker introduced "the Gray Man" to us and he's tougher than Spenser...for a while. Spenser will be in debt to Hawk for a long time (until he gets shot by the Ukranian mob several novels down the road and Spenser has to help him). "

" If asked to select a novel that most clearly broadcasts Spenser's code of ethics and purpose of life, it would be this one. Spenser is put to the test, in many ways. A brutal but wonderful novel. "
