Publisher Description

Thea Osborne has just lost her beloved father and retreats to her next housesitting assignment in Lower Slaughter to deal with her grief. The tranquillity is a welcome backdrop, and there's a whole host of animals to help stave off her loneliness. As Thea settles down to two weeks of solitude, her biggest challenges are jigsaw puzzles and fighting off bats in the bedroom - until reality catches up with her.

When her elder sister turns up on her doorstep after witnessing a horrific killing, the rural serenity descends into a web of suspicions and confrontations. As usual, investigating a murder while being a responsible housesitter proves to be no easy task; especially when you've got a temperamental parrot on your hands.

"Another good mystery story by Rebecca Tope. This one surprised me, as I hadn't worked out who the killer was until near to the end. I did think Thea's house-sitting and relationship with Phil were both becoming rather tedious. Despite this, I still enjoyed the story."

" I love the Cotswolds area of England so I read this book hoping it would have descriptions of the medieval towns and countryside...it delivered. I like a continuing character also...meet Thea Osborne. The book reminds me of Phillip Craig's Vineyard mystery series. I enjoyed them too. "

" An easy read, a weak story line but a pleasant glimpse at Cotswold life. "

" Found the story line very lame - not sure I would read anymore if her books unless I saw a really good review on one "

" I bought this book in Lower Slaughter - the village that it takes place in - while we were on our trip to England, so I was predisposed to love it. I did like it, but not as much as I had hoped. Too much angst and not enough Cotswold charm for me. "

" I purchased this book from a little shop in Lower Slaughter on a visit to the Cotswolds, so it added a little atmosphere to the trip. "

" A light-hearted read and I only read these books because I have got to know the Cotswold area fairly well. The plot is a bit thin but OKish. "

" This book was pretty much a mess. Couldn't figure out why these two people were together; coukdn't understand why the book needed so many pages to get to whodunit (lots of not much happening) and still not sure what the motive was at all..won't be reading more of her books. "
