" The Skylark series could be considered the early concept of the Singularity, the merging of man and machine "

" Can't help myself, one of the first memorable book series I read in my early teens and I re-read the whole lot a couple of years ago, still wonderful and I wasn't disappointed revisiting the story. "

" I read this one a LONG time ago. The Skylark series is a classic which I periodically go back and reread every decade or so. The science is outdated and the level of technology is a bit too far-fetched but it's still a classic space opera. "

" Old school Space Opera series written by the doyen of space opera writes - style and content a bit dated now but still an ok read "

" This is an OLD science fiction book. May not be liked by all but shows what E. E. Smith thought of space travel in the 50's. "

    " Pulpy Space opera Goodness...
The good guys are good beyond belief, the bad guys help out sometimes too...
But these remind me SO much of the old flash gordon, Matinee at the Bijou kinda stuff I cant help but LOVE them "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Charles | 6/10/2010

" Much like Casablanca, this book's innovations are today's cliches. Outdated in many ways, but enjoyable. So far superior to Princess of Mars that I have hope for reading old sci-fi again. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Kirk | 2/19/2010

" This book was okay. It had some little conflicts here and there but the conflicts wrap up way to quickly and easily. It ended on a better note and made me interested in moving on to the second book. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Rebecca | 7/18/2009

" Although dated in plot and style, this series is still a lot of fun. Granddad Russon (Gene) loved this series. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Daddyoh50 | 1/1/2009

" Old Old School Sci fi almost painful to read as it started most of the genre formulas used by Star Trek, Star Wars, Tarzan, and Flash Gordon. "

" sorry to say, didn't enjoy this book, it started out alright, seemed to be going in an interesting direction, however, I had to force myself to read the last third of the book to see if it could redeem itself, no such luck, simple writing and plot. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Jim | 8/25/2008

" His Lensman series is better. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Kristy | 2/27/2008

" Another totally fun space adventure by E. E. "Doc" Smith -- filled with handsome, brave, honorable men and sexy, brave, honorable ladies, with a smattering of freaky aliens and some nearly-human (but not quite) ones. Plus battles with spaceships! And inventions! "
