Publisher Description

Chip Arnold is a well-liked football coach at a small liberal arts college, but his personal life is in a bit of a rut. He goes out drinking with his colleagues, gets along well with his players, and dates all the prettiest women in town - he has the life most straight men dream of. But lately none of the women he dates seem to be igniting any passion in him. Then he meets the new school chaplain, Foster Lewis.

Romantic attraction to another man is new and terrifying, and Chip just can't put his finger on why he's drawn to Foster, but it's stronger than anything he's felt for anyone in his life. Never one to back down from a challenge, Chip decides to go for it. But love is never simple, and sometimes it's a downright mess!

"This seemed like a sitcom to me. I liked it, but it moved strangely... I agree with others who have reviewed, when they say they liked Brad and Jason. I think there is another book waiting with those two taking the lead. Their final years of college and then out to the real world, make for a lot of possibilities for these two to be excellent roll models. I hope Simple Men was just an "introduction" for more to come."

" This is a sweet, gentle, inconsequential book with a fondly absurdist flavor to it. Not a heckuva lot happens, and there's not a ton of angst. It's a pleasant but forgettable read. "

" I loved everything about this book! It had me laughing out loud and it was so refreshing to feel the love and connection between two people who loved each other and it was clearly not just about The Sex. I especially loved the secondary characters Jason and Brad. I will be reading more books by this author. "

" I liked how the author went from one character to another by paragraph rather than section or chapter, though at times it was a little confusing. It was a hard book to get through though. My guess is after reading several books where the characters were extraordinary, reading a book where the characters were all quite normal every day people was a little bit of a let down. That's all I can figure, except that I like a little more dialog. "

" I needed a fluffy read and this fit the bill. It was okay. I was intrigued by the plot of one of the MC's being a gay chaplain. This was actually a story of 4 MC's, two couples trying to admit they're in love and be in relationships. It flips between the four POVs a little too often. "

" I really like Eric Arvin's writing, it's sparse, precise and with a great sense of dry humour. There are no big villains in Simple Men, there are just simple men looking for love and facing problems on the path to true love. "
