"After rereading this childhood favorite for the first time in probably 20 years, I can see why I loved it so much. Did I enjoy it quite so much this time around? No. But I did still like it quite a bit. And I can see my students really loving the absurdity of it. Would be a great read-aloud - maybe do just a couple of stories a week with my fourth graders, building to some fun projects - like writing our own set of silly class stories."

" I loved this book when I was younger. Our librarian read it to us in second grade, and everyone was belly laughing. Some parts were not so funny for me though, because I felt bad for the kids getting tormented by that awful teacher. Overall, it is a good book for grades 4 and under. "

The running gags, the oddball students and faculty, the fun absurdity that never becomes potty humor... these are probably some of the funniest books I've ever read, let alone in my childhood.
