Shadowheart: Shadowmarch: Volume IV Audiobook

" Decent and mostly well-written, but it doesn't cover much new ground compared to other books Tad Williams has written. Some characters that appeared seemed a bit sudden/random and things that happened seemed a little too pat at times, to the point it might have been good if Mr. Williams' editor had been a bit more stern with him. A solid fantasy series, but nothing exceptional, and the ending was bitter and depressing. "

In this forth and concluding book of the Shadowmarch series, Tad not only brings a dozen story lines to a conclusion, but he does so with truly delightful and refreshing imagination. I love it when the story is so creative that it is truly fascinating. If you love epic fantasy, you can't miss by reading any of Tad's books. I strongly disagree with reviewers that suggest the series is too long; I wish a story like this would never end. "

" Abysmally poor editing makes this book a tedious, disjointed and very unrewarding read. Had at least one third of its content been purged it might have been more enjoyable but it digressed so often into pointless episodes with minor characters that the only logical conclusion is that the author had a contract to fill 700 pages and did so at the expense of the storyline. By far the worst book of a very poor series, it really has changed my opinion of Tad Williams. There are far better fantasy writers out there. "

" The final book of the ShadowMarch series, I really liked Shadowheart. Williams has been one of my favorite fantasy authors for 2 decades and this conclusion was well done and an enjoyable read. My only real complaint about the book, and the only thing holding it back from being a 5, was that the ending seemed to really drag for me. The climax comes 130 pages before the ending and the rest is just "wrapping up loose ends." It felt as if those conclusion pages could have been done in half the time. Overall, though, the book was fantastic and I definitely enjoyed reading the series. Williams came thru again with and excellent series that captured the imagination and told in the words of a master storyteller. "
