The Doctor's old friend and fellow Time Lord Professor Chronotis has retired to Cambridge University - where nobody will notice if he lives for centuries. But now he needs help from the Doctor, Romana, and K-9. When he left Gallifrey he took with him a few little souvenirs - most of them are harmless. But one of them is extremely dangerous.

The Worshipful and Ancient Law of Gallifrey isn't a book for Time Tots. It is one of the Artefacts, dating from the dark days of Rassilon. It must not be allowed to fall into the wrong hands. The sinister Skagra most definitely has the wrong hands. He wants the book. He wants to discover the truth behind Shada. And he wants the Doctor s mind....

Shada was written by fan favorite Douglas Adams and based on the scripts for the original TV programme.

" I'm just giddy -- a novelization of a lost Doctor Who episode written by Douglas Adams -- a treasure akin to finding Tut's tomb. And it's an episode with Romana, my all-time favorite companion (until River Song, but she's not really a companion). Among the quotes at the beginning of the book is one from The Smiths. So far, Gareth Roberts has managed to channel the spirit and style of Adams. Wheeee! "

" This was great! It was like watching an episode of some classic Doctor Who. I loved the action, the dialogue, and the humor. I especially loved that there was even a reference to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. All around a great read for anyone who liked Who. "

" For fans of The Doctor, or Douglas Adams, this is must reading. It is a very odd book, though, and be prepared for life before the 21st century Doctor, as this is set in 1978. If you only Dr. Who from the modern stories, prepare to get schooled. "

" It took me a while to finish, because it didn't grab me for some reason, but it was a really clever story: well-told and funny. "

" I really wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading this. I love Doctor Who, so I was worried that this book wouldn't capture his personality or it would just be a bit off. It was amazing. I really enjoyed reading Shada. "

" This was a total summer reading book. It was enjoyable, very Doctor, and provided a few nods to Douglas Adams. The one thing that makes me sad about it is that it isn't actually written by Douglas Adams, but then again, that's what makes me sad about the vast majority of books out there. "

" Well this was a real treat. Reading "Shada" was like getting a brand new Tom Baker episode of "Doctor Who." Reading this reminds me why, though I love the reboot, the original "Doctor Who" series was something very different. "

" This is the most fun I've had reading in a LONG time...like, since, Douglas Adams died. Roberts does a great job of capturing Adams' voice and fleshing out the scripts into a worthy novel. Thanks so much!! "
