Quotes & Awards

  • “Frank Beddor took a classic story and turned it into a powerful, magical adventure with The Looking Glass Wars. With part two, Seeing Redd, Gerard Doyle once again shows what can be done with just a voice and talent…Clearly, Doyle has made this series his own.”

  • “A good, solid twist at the close.”

    Booklist

" Not nearly as good as the first. (at least i thought so) I actually had to force myself to finish it... "

" Didn't like it as well as the first, but I'll still read the third. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Erin | 2/10/2014

" Part two of the Looking Glass Wars trilogy. Personally, I found this book a little boring. It wasn't nearly as interesting or engaging as the first book, and, without giving anything away, it had a "twist" that I saw coming a mile away that I thought was really stupid and kind of ruined things. And of course, the end leaves you hanging because there is a part three to the series that isn't out yet. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Kathryn | 2/8/2014

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Mauri | 2/8/2014

" A good read, but I didn't like it as much as the first. Too many stories going on all at once. With so many story lines the character development was kind of put on the back burner. Hopefully things will get better in the third book "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Keegan | 2/4/2014

" Was a great book and was totally unexpected, but oh my god was it such a cliff-hanger. I can not wait to read the next book. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Gennipher Sjodin | 1/27/2014

" An incredible twist to the traditional story and has much more logic and meat. The characters are compelling and emotional, the world is strange but not unlike ours in many ways and the antagonist (Redd) was so believable to me, that I actually found myself anxious when she came into parts of the story. Frank Beddor is so creative and imaginative. I have much respect for anyone who attempts their version on a classic tale and comes out improving it by leap and bounds. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Jessica | 1/23/2014

" I don't quite know where to start. While I praised the first book so much it has left me at a loss for words to explain how... mediocre this one was. The relationships are lacking so much. This was easily overlooked in the first book because they weren't as large a focal point as they are in this book which makes one wonder,"Why bother?" And the ending left me feeling like someone had ripped a digital page out of my ebook as a cruel joke to never let me know whatever became of Alyss, Dodge and the rest of the kingdom. In the end, this book left the empty taste of filler in me. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Holly | 1/14/2014

" Had a slow start getting into this one, but I warmed up to it. I still wish there were more true correlations with the Carroll classic. "

" This one was not as good as the first, but me and my son were so caught up in the storyline, we had to continue w the series. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Jacy | 12/29/2013

" It was a pretty good sequel. There were some interesting twists and turns. Arch is a diabolical character and I can see why he and Redd are friends. I can't wait to read the final book in the trilogy. "

" I had to read this one to see what happened to Alyce. But, this was not a twist on Alice in Wonderland. This was a whole new thing, and I didn't enjoy as much where the story went. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Taiya | 6/20/2013

" These are real fun books to read. This second book of a retelling of Alice in Wonderland is full of action. The war of white imagination vs. black imagination is still going and new enemy is introduced. King Arch. Cant't wait to read the third book. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Matthew | 3/22/2013

" Lots of action and you really get to know the characters a bit deeper. The imagination put into this book is top notch. The trials and tribulations of Alyss, and the deep down evil natuer of Arch and Red. Throw in some bad folks from Earth and you have a great story. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Katie | 12/30/2012

" Just as good as the first! Definitely a page-turner up to the very end, with all of the action and emotions packed into this part of the story. Now I can't wait to read the final book and see how it all comes together! "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Jeni Brasfield | 10/10/2012

" excellent sequel, but i have so many questions and thoughts about what might happen in the next book. alice is a much stronger character, and her relationship with dodge becomes clearer though there is still that awkwardness that we can probably all relate to. redd is a badass. "
