"Scary, Scary Halloween is a book that I used to read with my dad every year. It is written in verse, with one page per spread, and the illustrations are beautiful with just the right amount of creepiness for young readers. I remember being captivated by the first page, which features two eyes peering out of the darkness and the line, "I peer outside, there's something there / That makes me shiver, spikes my hair / It must be Halloween." This is a great book for parents who want to introduce their young children to the concept of Halloween."

" What a fun and spooky story. This book would definitely be fun to read around Halloween time in the classroom. It contains every scary creature you can imagine from ghosts, to bats, to witches, and cats. I enjoyed reading the book, mainly because it is a rhyming book. I also really liked the illustrations of all the spooky characters. I think kids will get a thrill out of this one, as well as be a little spooked. The end had a little twist, with cats lurking throughout the book. I liked the story and though it was cute. "

" Well, Jan Brett's illustrations really make this story. I always make the kids in story time try to guess whose eyes are those peeking out from under the porch. The littlest ones always guess "mom and dad" or "grandma" rather than an animal! "
