Publisher Description

Francesca is at the beginning of her second term in Year 11 at an all boy's school that has just started accepting girls. She still misses her old friends, and, to make things worse, her mother has had a breakdown and can barely move from her bed.

But Francesca had not counted on the fierce loyalty of her new friends, or falling in love, or finding that it's within her power to bring her family back together.

"Not a bad book. Kinda slow and boring in the beginning but it gets better as the story progresses. What I liked most was seeing Francesca develop friendships with the guys at the school. My favorite characters were Jimmy and Thomas. They're so funny. They really stood out to me. This book also has a little romance but also deals with real life issues. Great book about friendship and real friends who are there for you no matter what."

" I understand the hype about Melina Marchetta. I'll have to see if it works as well for Jellicoe Road. This book was heart wrenching, even though it's really just a small family story. But family is so important, and Francesca's family is so important to her. "
