Sarah: Women of Genesis (A Novel) Audiobook

" I enjoyed the whole series. "

" All right, So I need to take some thoughts back. Before, I have been known to not like using sacred characters in fiction. I like this book. I need to admit, isn' that step one?... Mr. Card has used very good references. I truly hope that this would bring someone to actually read the scriptural stories the book was based on. "

" I love this Women of Genesis series! Thanks, T! It felt authentic and I thought it was well-researched culturally and scriptorally. It provided more of a LDS Christian perspective. I liked Scott-Card's explanations or possible motives people might have had in navigating through the more confusing elements of this record in the Bible. "

" I loved this book. I especially liked being able to envision the setting of this scriptural account. I had never really thought about what a nomadic life might have been like. It was a great story to have fleshed out into a novel. "

" Card's a great story teller, and this, more than most of his other works, proves it. He literally takes a story that has been told and retold and makes it seem new and fresh. The characters are flawed, fabulous and fully robust; the story flows in a way that makes the reader want to flow with the story. Great rhythm, well-written, and an interesting conversation-starter. " Loved this book. It was wonderfully written and gave great insight into the life of this amazing woman. I know it is fiction, but I loved how Card explored Sarah's different relationships and life experiences. "

" I enjoyed it, and it made me want to go back to Genesis. However, I read the next two and was annoyed at how similar the characters were in every one. All of the females are a beautiful, strong character who somehow comes up with a reason to learn to read. I know, I know--education is the key! But I think given the time period that it was a little over the top. I would suggest reading just one and you might not end up annoyed with it like I did. In memory of my first reading I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 1 after reading Rebekah and Rachel and Leah. "

" Wow! Orson Scott Card has an amazing imagination. He filled in a lot of blanks in the scriptural accounts with his own ideas but it is amazing how he tried to reconstruct everything. The accounts of Abraham and Sarah's time in Egypt and Abraham and Hagar and Ishmael.....interesting to think of how hard that must have been for everybody involved. This was really good. Take it with a grain of salt though. "

" This was a good book about Sarah and Abraham from the book of Genesis. I liked it a lot but I think the next 2 books in the series (Rebekah and Rachel and Leah) are much better. I still give it 4 stars though. "

" While reading this book, I felt there was something wrong about or with it, but I wasn't quite sure what it was. Then I read the afterword (in the book on Rachel) or about the author or something and found out Orson is a Mormon (I think). He should stick to writing about space. "

" I have read a lot of Orson Scott Card's---fantasy and science fiction. So I am surprised to say, I absolutely love his ability to take a person from the bible and create a realistic view of their life. I recommend all of the books he has done on women of the bible. Each one is great! "

" For a fantasy and science fiction writer, Card really did a great job of making this Bible account come to life. I realize that Biblical fiction has to fill in many gaps. Nevertheless, even though fiction, this novel helped me to appreciate the Biblical narration. "
