"I read this book as a kid and I loved it then. Even now, when I read it to ma siblings, I realize that I have not stopped liking this book. Rumpelstiltskin is still one of ma favorite fairy tale villains whom I never ceased to like and also towards whom I have never felt much anger."

" Is it weird that I felt a little sorry for Rumpel-stiltskin, the poor man got short-changed. I'm not saying he should have taken the child. I just think the father in the beginning is to blame. He should have been punished for telling the King a false hood and nearly getting his daughter killed. "

" Slight spin on the classic story of Rumpelstiltskin. I am not happy about how the characters life is threatened and feel as though it may be a little bit too mature for younger children to hear that sort of talk, especially when she ends up marrying him anyway. "

" The illustrations bring this fable to life. Even after reading it 2 or 3 times in a row, the kids still wanted to flip through the pages and look at the pictures. "

" An extra star because the art was so lovely, but this retelling of the story lacked any sort of zip, comedy, drama ... anything. Very plain retelling. Plus, ever since Vivian Vande Velde's The Rumpelstiltskin Problem, I can't read the story without thinking about all of the illogical choices made in the narrative. "

" I read this version as I listened to the CD reading that is available. There were several people reading in character and musical scores to match the character's mood or action. "

" Read this to the all boys 3rd & 4th grade class at St Therese during Catholic schools week on PJ day. This is a great class of kids and this was the first most of them had heard of Rumplestiltskin. The length of this book was perfect for this age. "
