" Having loved "Water for Elephants", I added all Sara Greun's books to my "to read" list. However, this one paled in comparison. It was too predictable, I knew what was coming before I read it. The main character, Annmarie, was not very likable either. She returns home to help with her ailing father, only to avoid him at all costs. Really!? I can't relate to that at all. Oh well, a quick, easy read...a chic-lite read. I'll probably eventually read the sequel too. "

" Loved "Water for Elephants" but this was predictable and formulaic. "

" Good book, I would recommend it, not as well told or as interesting a story as Water for Elephants though. "

" This one had me right from the beginning. I thought I knew what would happen next, but I was wrong. I was disappointed that there was unresolved business in the story but that is the only disappointment I had. "

" A page turner with a hint of The Horse Whisperer about it - hurt, loss, love and the redemption to be found in horses. "

" I just love how the author writes about family dynamics in these two books. I am looking forward to reading the second one again since I read them out of order by accident! "

" A girl loves her horse and they do shows, her horse trips and falls. The girl is very injured and the horse had to be put down. The girl grows into a woman but is unhappy. It's a nice read. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Morgan | 7/2/2013

" Not nearly as good as Water for Elephants, it was just okay. The main character is so consistently ignorant, makes stupid decisions, and ruins the lives of those around her, that it's hard to buy (or even hope for) the happy ending. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Angela | 5/8/2013

" it was not nearly as good as water for elephants but still pleasant enough to complete "

" Great book and am glad that Annemarie finally got thing rolling her way after a while. Great book, easy read. Recommend reading Flying Changes, the follow-up, after this one. "

" good book... being an equestrian, i couldn't help but to nit pick about some of the vocabulary and way she wrote about the horses and processes included in riding/ training. maybe she was trying to hard to be as descriptive as possible? once again... easy read... ok book "

" Pulp fiction. Not remarkable. I bought it cheap at a book fair, mostly b/c of the horse on the cover. Unfortunately, that reading choice strategy provided a higher quality average result when I was a kid/young adult. "
