"I go through phases when I read. Some days all I want is a good sci fi, other days mystery. Lately I have not been able to pick up a historical romance for the life of me. I was getting frustrated with the same old stories. So I was quite surprised when this little gem caught my attention. I loved it, and couldn't put it down. I really needed a good laugh, and this was just the book for me. I must admit it did drag slightly, but not enough to really bother me. If you are looking for a light-hearted romance that will make you smile, I suggest you read this book. Just be prepared to read it in one sitting."

" This was such a fun, funny, entertaining regency romance...BUT it had some unnessesary "bodice-ripping", graphic scenes thrown in that were just in poor taste. If it wasn't for that, this would be a full-blown four stars and a perfect beach read! By the way, this is free on Kindle. "

" I love this book so much, it's definitely one of my top favorites. I just love the protagonist, she's funny and everyone likes her but still she makes sure that the wall flowers get to dance, because she knows how it feels to be left out. She also isn't all dainty and perfectly silly; she is a no nonsense woman and I really like that. One of my all time favorite characters ever. "

" Wonderful opening to this book, great dialogue and a fun setup. The ending falters a little -- the light, sparkling pace doesn't quite hold and the characters do things that I found a little hard to buy, but overall a fun read. I hope other books will be coming from DL Carter. "

" This was, indeed, a ridiculous book. Free from Amazon, this was a quick one day read for me that tickled my funny bone and satiated my appetite for smart, period romance. I'll read this again! "

" Interesting concept and the writing was excellent. A very different kind of Regency romance that was more amusing than romantic. If you like historical romance I think you should give it a try. "

" Without benefit of a book cover on my Kindle, I randomly chose a book and was pleasantly surprised to find a quickly engaging historical fiction hidden behind a rather modern title. While 10% in, there are hints of an upcoming romance (not my top genre choice) the story had caught my attention. "

" I really enjoyed this novel. I really enjoyed the humor and did not let myself get too tied up in questioning how the true Mr. North could be replaced. Don't want to reveal too much. I will be adding this author to my list of favorites and will purchase other books written by her. "
