" The heroine, Chloe, was engaging. And I enjoyed the description of her hair. Dyed white blonde with two small slashes of bold red in the front, cut short, and puffed around her face so that she resembled a dandelion. Very original. The hero...not so much. Yeah, yeah, I get that Eli was a tortured soul. But I couldn't quite buy the fact that he's been scarred for life, until Chloe comes along and "saves" him in, like, 48 hours. (That's about how long it took them to fall in love.) And after talking about how his life was ruined by an "evil" Grand-mother who basically kidnapped and held him hostage for 8 years, Eli is able to wrap up his abusive relationship with the dying Grand-mother in 3 pages. Implausible. That said, Dodd amped up the mystery by introducing a decades-old murder and a cache of pink diamonds, so, I will definitely read the last book in the series. Plus, it features the brother I like the best, Noah. "
