It is the summer of 1976 in Oxfordshire, England, and someone is trying to kill Sally Gilmartin. The only person she can trust is her daughter, Ruth, a young single mother struggling with her own demons. Now Sally must tell her daughter the truth: she is actually Eva Delectorskaya, a Russian émigré recruited for the British Secret Service in 1939. Sally has buried many secrets along with the name Eva Delectorskaya, including her work manipulating the press in order to shift public sentiment toward U.S. involvement in the Second World War and her dangerous love affair with another spy. As the truth comes out, Ruth is drawn deeper and deeper into the astonishing events of her mother's past. Restless is a tour de force from William Boyd. Full of tension and drama, and based on a remarkable chapter of Anglo-American history, this is storytelling at its finest. Download and start listening now!

" Not normally a fan of books about spies but I really enjoyed this one. Dual time frame novel between the 1970s and the years of WW2. Tells the story of Eva and Sally, who's modern day tale is narrated by her daughter. I actually enjoyed the modern day sections more but there were parts in story of Eva which were real page turners. Wasn't sure what to expect from this book but ultimately enjoyed it and it's an easy book to get into. "

" After reading a few so-so books, I am so happy to have found this involving book. I loved both stories, alternating back and forth, getting engaged by each for different reasons. Sally was fascinating and extremely skilled at disappearing. Her daughter has a much more normal life, but I kept seeing mysteries in her stories as well. I definitely will read another by Boyd. "

" Dit is gewoon een heel spannend goed geschreven boek. Deels spionageroman, deels gewoon een verhaal over een moeder en dochter in Oxford. De spionage vindt plaats in de eerste jaren ven de 2de wereldoorlog, de rest speelt in de 70er jaren. Het is zonde om de plot te vertellen, maar ik kan het iedereen aanbevelen. "
