After a near-fatal car crash leaves him scarred both physically and emotionally, Matt Harmon finds the solitude of his huge, lonely house too much to bear. Hiring nurse James Hayden to look after him seems like the best idea for Matt, whose fierce independence has been compromised by his injuries.

The two men clash from the start as James struggles to help Matt rebuild his shattered body and heal his crushed soul. The bond they form is forged in fire and ice, and the wounds they inflict on one another can only be erased by Matt's admission that he can't live without James's loving touch. Will Matt realize too late that James is the only one who can rescue him from himself?

" Well, I am an angst loving girl. And good gawd, was this worthy of an angst award. "I can't survive without him, but I'm not gay, but he's the only thing in the world that I can't live without, but I disgust myself." And so on, and so forth. And the homophobia and the constant use of that horrible f word were this close to turing me off. But because James was such a lovely man, and so worth it, I stuck with it. I'm glad I did. It turns out that Matt did have some redeemable qualities after all. Even if it took most of the book for him to stop hating himself enough to let all of us see them. I would recommend this to anyone who loves the angst, because this is right at the top of that list in my opinion. "

" The story was good, Mitch was such a dick though, extremely unlikeable how James ever liked him past his looks was a mystery. "

" Can't say I cared for the overly abusive main character, and the rest were either weak or just plain stupid to put up with his antics. Sorry, not for me. "

" I was happy to see Matt redeemed himself, but I still cannot believe James gave him as many chances as he did! "

" So this book has a lot of problems with it... Dialogue issues, general story flow, asshole character (unbelievably so in some places) however! I loved it. I'm a sucker for the troubled anti-hero story line. So sue me. ;) "

" Well, I wanted to like it and I did at times but Matt just drove me crazy. He was such a vile person that I really didn't Think that he deserved James. "

" This is an excellent book. Quite an emotional roller coaster ride with Matt & James but I loved every moment of it. Especially the ending, I was tearing up a bit and the Epilogue had me cracking up laughing. Couldn't put this book down once I started it! One of my top reads this year. 5+ Stars! "

" Very hard to rate this book. On one hand it was well written but i found myself wanting to beat some sense into both characters on all but maybe 20 pages max. Even the understanding that there are people who behave this way did not truly endear the main characters to me. "

" This Goddamn book! That freaking Matt! I never wanted to merc somebody so bad. I pulled my hair out over his bull. I hated him and I loved him. James, I just felt for James. Really good book and one of my faves, but unlike Life Class, I'll never re-read it. "
