"Tres attracts trouble no matter what he does. This book is a good example...though admittedly Garrett isn't helping much. A classic closed-door murder mystery. Someone is murdered, and there is no way for anyone to leave the island; the killer is among us; etc. Despite the it's-been-done factor, I really enjoyed it. This is one of the few Riordan mysteries I've solved before the end, but even so he managed to trip me up. The truth is always more complicated."

" The Tres Navarre series has one of the most disappointing drop-offs in quality over the past few entries, and this one continues the trend. It's like Riordan's heart isn't in it anymore. "

" I picked this up because I enjoyed the Percy Jackson series by the same author. This book was written as general fiction and it was okay but not great. As often happened in the Percy Jackson books, the characters would be about to discover the answer to the burning questions and then would get distracted and forget to keep searching. Not incredibly engaging and a bit disappointing. "
