Publisher Description

Newbery Medal-winning author Beverly Cleary expertly depicts the trials and triumphs of growing up through a relatable heroine who isn't afraid to be exactly who she is.

Ramona Quimby is excited to start kindergarten. No longer does she have to watch her older sister, Beezus, ride the bus to school with all the big kids. She's finally old enough to take the bus too!

Then she gets into trouble for pulling her classmate's boingy curls during recess. Even worse, her crush rejects her in front of everyone. Beezus says Ramona needs to quit being a pest, but how can she stop if she never was trying to be one in the first place?

The classic Ramona books continue to make young readers laugh in recognition and pleasure. They're perfect for independent and shared reading, at home or in the classroom.

"I read this book as a kid and loved it. I was nervous about getting the audio version for my granddaughter and i to listen to, but i was very pleasantly surprised. Stockard Channing did a wonderful job as the narrator. My granddaughter was into it the whole time, she never got bored once. I will be purchasing more of the kids titles and Ramona books. "

" Ramona is a bit like Junie B. Jones--she's a kindergartner who doesn't like to do what she is told and seems to get into trouble with no trouble at all. I like to read "Seat Work" where Ramona chases Davy so she can try to kiss him. This is great to read right before Valentine's Day. "

About Beverly Cleary

Beverly Cleary (1916–2021) was an American author of highly acclaimed fiction for children and young adults, including the Henry Huggins series, Ramon Quimby series, stand-alone novels, picture books, and two memoirs. Some of her many awards include the Newbery Medal, the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award, and the National Medal of Arts. She was born in McMinnville, Oregon, and lived on a farm in Yamhill, a town so small it had no library. Her mother arranged to have books sent to their tiny town from the state library and acted as a librarian in a room over a bank. It was there that she learned to love books. Generations of children have grown up with Ramona Quimby, Henry Huggins, Ralph Mouse, and all of their friends, families, and assorted pets. Her books continue to capture the hearts and imaginations of children of all ages throughout the world.
