Lucy Marinn is a glass artist living in mystical, beautiful Friday Harbor, Washington, with a boyfriend, Kevin, who she believes is her soul mate. She has always had a magical side a gift that finds its way into the breathtaking glasswork she creates and she struggles to keep it contained. But when Lucy is blindsided by the most bitter kind of betrayal, she questions many of her choices. Her boyfriend leaves her and his new lover is none other than Lucy's own sister. Lucy's bitterness over this devastation is multiplied by the fact that she has constantly made the wrong choices in her romantic life.

Meanwhile, facing the severe disapproval of Lucy's family, Kevin asks his friend Sam Nolan, a local vineyard owner on San Juan Island, to romance Lucy so that she can more easily move on. But when Sam and Lucy begin to feel real sparks between them, Lucy must ask herself if she can easily risk her heart again. As Lucy questions her beliefs about love, loyalty, old patterns, mistakes, and new beginnings, she explores the possibility that some things in life - even after being broken - can be re-made into something beautiful. And that it is only by discovering who you really are that you can find the one who truly deserves you.

" I loved it. I always love Lisa Kleypas' books though. "

" I received this book as a giveaway and will happily recommend it to friends as an enjoyable read with a touch of magic. Kleypas did an amazing job of making the characters believable and while the magical touches seemed odd at first I enjoyed the little twists they added to the plot. "

" I did not realize this was the second book in a series when I began reading. I only got a little way in when I thought "I know these characters!" I had recently watched the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie "Christmas with Holly" which is based on the first book. In the movie they seem to have reordered the ages of the brothers and changed their occupations. I am now starting "Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor" so I can get the whole, real story of the Nolan family. I really enjoyed this romantic story with just a hint of the supernatural. Lucy and Sam are likable characters and I loved their honesty with eachother even when they couldn't quite be honest with themselves. All of the characters' relationships with Holly bring an added sweetness to the story. "

" I love the characters and I can imagine how beautiful and enchanting San Juan Island & the Pacific Northwest is(gotta visit someday). However I wish the "magic" stuff in the story is not included and I think it is not necessary nor is it believable. Despite my misgivings I enjoyed this contemporary romance book and I must say it is a good weekend read. "

" A very light read. Enjoyable, simple. I would give it a 2.5 stars! It was good in its own way, but it lacked a certain depth that only Lisa Kleypas had previously managed to pull me in. "

" The magical story of Lucy and Sam grabbed my heart and wouldn't let me go until the very last page. Reading the glimpse of Dream Lake, I can't wait for august and the ghost and Alex and more magic. I know what I will be dreaming about tonight. "

" Lisa Kleypas is such a talented writer. Although I found this a little slow in the beginning, it didn't take long for the book to invite the reader into the world of her story. I look forward to reading all her books! "

" I thought the story in Rainshadow Road was okay. I didn't care for the magical elements or for Alice and Kevin, the antagonists. Based upon the story, it seems as if the author, Lisa Kleypas, may be transitioning away from romances and to "women's" fiction. "
