Publisher Description

Staying together had seemed impossible. Now it’s their only hope. A dark shadow of fear has fallen over Newpointe, Louisiana. First one, then another of the town firemen’s wives has been murdered, and a third has barely escaped an attempt on her life. Incredible as it seems, a serial killer is stalking this sleepy little southern community. And Mark Branning’s wife may be next on the list. Mark is determined to protect her. But keeping Allie alive won’t be easy—not with their marriage already dying a bitter death. Unless they renew their commitment to each other and to God, someone else may settle their problems … permanently. And time to decide is running out. “This tense and exciting thriller is more than a fabulous read; it has an underlying message about the place of religion within a marriage. Highly recommended.”—Library Journal Private Justice is book one in the Newpointe 911 series by award-winning novelist Terri Blackstock. Newpointe 911 offers taut, superbly crafted novels of faith, fear, and close-knit small-town relationships, seasoned with romance and tempered by insights into the nature of relationships, redemption, and the human heart. Look also for Shadow of Doubt, Line of Duty, Word of Honor, and Trial by Fire.

"This is a really good book by Blackstock, but it does fall a little short of her usual level of excellence. There's a little awkwardness to it, as though she wrote it a little faster than usual or her editor wasn't as good. The relationship between husband and wife kept feeling so repetitive in places, and there never was a good enough explanation of how the problems had played out prior to the beginning of the book. The action part of the book and the characters were still excellent, so maybe I'm just picky. I did get the feeling of Louisiana too, so I would reccommend the book, just not as enthusiastically as I have some her previous books."

" A very good mystery story with interesting characters. Without preaching, Blackstock subtly weaves Christian values and attitudes into the story. Her Christian characters are not perfect, but realistic, flawed people who embrace Jesus as Lord. "

" Terri Blackstock is one of my favorite authors. I have loved each series and the people she creates as characters. I really cared about them and what happened. I like reading that people transform to become their best selves. The mysteries are well written, with the surprises that a mystery lover relishes. I couldn't put them down.. "

" A good reason to check out the author before you read the book....the murder mystery part was good but had I researched the author, I would have realized that 2/3 of the book is basically being preached at. I don't mind books that delve into religion. I loved the Left Behind Series and read all kinds of different books that have religious undertones...but this book is a "Why you need to repent and make Jesus your savior" and "you are basically going to hell if you don't think like I do" etc. book with a little murder mystery thrown in....this preaching I can get from Church or pastors when I request it. The write up on the book didn't mention anything about this being a Christ centered book and probably should.....I finished it only to find out who done it but took all of her other books off my list of to-reads. When I read Christian authors like Karen Kingsbury I expect it. I think the fact that I did this as an audio book was worse because I couldn't skip over the preachy parts.... "

" This book takes place in a small town in Louisiana where most of the residents know each other. The two main stories are about a marriage which is in a downward spiral and a serial killer in town. The author weaves these two together in such a way that you begin to care about her characters from early on and she keeps you guessing as to who the serial killer is. The issues of trust, forgiveness and committments are dealt with throughtout this book. A very satisfying ending and a great read! "

About Terri Blackstock

Terri Blackstock made a decision more than a decade ago that permanently changed the direction of her writing career. She had grown to become an award-winning secular novelist of over thirty published titles. And yet she was miserable, and her career left her unfulfilled. One night she decided she would never again write something that was displeasing to God. Since then she has written more than thirty novels, many of which were New York Times bestsellers, and was given the Retailers Choice Award in 2007 for best Christian novel in the general fiction category for Night Light. She lives in Mississippi with her husband, Ken.
