Elizabeth Bennet, the second eldest of five daughters whom Mrs Bennett is anxious to dispose of in marriage, is the most intelligent and delightful of all Jane Austen's heroines.

Her vitality, vivacity and wit, her hasty dismissal of superior Mr. Darcy, 'the most disagreeable man in the world,' how he improves his manners and she changes her mind, are the central ingredients of Pride and Prejudice. It is Jane Austen's best-loved novel and through the depth and sparkle of its comedy we are encouraged to consider what balance of energy and order, playfulness and regulation constitutes real strength of character. " It feels strange to give 5 stars to a book, but this is book is an exception. At first I Thought the story will be boring, but it's quite good, and I'm glad I read it. The narration is smart, although it's quite boring for me. The story is not very complicated either, but I love the way Jane chose the personality for each characters. I especially amused by the personalities of the main character (Elizabeth). She is a smart young woman, a character that's really hard to find in today's novel. Anyway, considering the era when this book was written, the story is wonderfully told, beautifully said, and strangely, amusing. "

" I am such a sucker for love in all of it's power. I am also very odd when it comes to "the classics" and what I am told I am supposed to adore. I find I am usually 50/50. Well chalk this gorgeous book up to the winning side. Adored. "

" A great classic story that is one of my favorites. I would say this story would be for a very advance 6th grade class. It would take the students awhile to be able to finish the book due to them needing to break down the way the book is written so that they can understand it. "

About the Author
Author Jane Austen

Jane Austen (1775–1817) is considered by many scholars to be the first great woman novelist. Born in Steventon, England, she later moved to Bath and began to write for her own and her family’s amusement. Her novels, set in her own English countryside, depict the daily lives of provincial middle-class families with wry observation, a delicate irony, and a good-humored wit.
