Quotes & Awards

  • “Bob’s writing is just like his hosting—smooth and professional. I'm sure his many fans will be thoroughly entertained and delighted by these recollections of his life and his long and very successful career. I can only imagine what more he might have accomplished if only he could sing.”

    Alex Trebek

  • “People are always stunned when I tell them Bob Barker was one of my martial arts students and that he could have earned a black belt, had he chosen to do so. This book will show you how one of the nicest guys managed to land and stay on top while never being changed by adulation and success. It’s an inspiring lesson for us all.”

    Chuck Norris

  • “The readers of this book will be happy to find, as I was, that Bob Barker did more than host The Price Is Right for thirty-five years. A lot more, as it turns out. What a career! God bless you, Bob Barker. And I'll try not to wreck the car.”

    Drew Carey

  • “Bob Barker is an inspiration. His obvious love for life, people, and, of course, animals shines through on these pages. If you thought he was priceless before, wait until you spend time with him here. Now if I can only get him interested in ballroom dancing.”

Tom Bergeron, host, Dancing with the Stars

  • “Bob Barker is a daytime programming legend, an entertainment icon, and one of the most beloved television personalities of our time. The story behind the man is quite fascinating, and the man behind the legend is a gifted storyteller.”

Leslie Moonves, president and CEO, CBS Corporation

" I really liked this book. It was a quick read, read it in one day. It is a good look at Bob Barker's life, not just the price is right part! "

" I learned so much from this book that I did not know about B. Barker. I only knew him from TPIR for all of my life. He tells his story with wicked humor and candidly at that. He has led a very interesting life. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Melissa Kayden | 2/1/2014

" An easy read and fairly interesting. Barker has had a very interesting life and I knew almost nothing about him other than being on the Price is Right. Parts are repetitive, but overall, it is an easy and interesting read if you grew up watching The Price is Right, as I did. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Ashley | 1/28/2014

" I grew up a devoted fan of TPIR. I am still so happy that I was able to attend a taping of the show prior to Bob's retirement. Even though I did not get called to "Come on Down", it was a long time dream fulfillment to be there in person. In reading this memoir, I now know that TPIR was only one small piece of a long and busy career in the entertainment industry. You'll always be a priceless memory to me, Bob Barker! "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Don Kaiser | 1/10/2014

" I grew up watching Bob Barker. I named my dog Bob-(Barker). I used to play sick so I could stay home from school to watch Bob Barker. Even today, the ringtone on my phone is the mountain climber music from the Cliffhangers game. It annoys the s--t out of people, which is exactly as intended. So, it was with high high hopes that I bought this book off the clearance rack when Borders went the way of the DoDo Bird. I finally got around to reading it and yeah, there were nice stories. Must be a charmed life when everybody that crosses your path is a good egg. But c'mon Bob....Where's the stuff about Dian Parkinson? Her abrupt dismissal from the show in '93? Her lawsuit that you were shtupping her? Your admission on Primetime Live that yes, you were shtupping her and yes it was consensual and yes, you enjoyed it? Her eventual withdrawl of the suit because your candor stood down her extortion attempts? THAT'S the stuff I wanted to read and none of it was in here :( "

" Very light read about how Barker got his start in the biz and went on to host one of the longest running game shows. Not too heavy on Hollywood insight, but a very fast and pretty entertaining read. I was on the TV show Price is Right, so maybe this was especially interesting to me... "

" Wow. According to his book, Bob Barker's life has been nothing but sunshine and roses. He's never struggled, and he's exceptionally lucky. The autobiography rambles around, but you get the feeling that there is NO WAY that he is ever going to show you who he really is. "
