Publisher Description

Gilly Soloman has been reduced to a mothering machine, taking care of everyone and everything except herself. But the machine has broken down. Burnt out by the endless days of crying children and menial tasks, and exhausted from always putting herself last, Gilly doesn't immediately consider the consequences when she's carjacked. With a knife to her throat, her first thought is that she'll finally get some rest. Someone can save her for a change.

But salvation isn't so forthcoming. Stranded in a remote, snowbound cabin with this stranger, hours turn to days, days into weeks. As time forges a fragile bond between them, she learns her captor is not the lunatic she first believed, but a human being whose wasted life has been shaped by secrets and tragedy. Yet even as their connection begins to foster trust, Gilly knows she must never forget he's still a man teetering on the edge. One who just might take her with him.

"I got this book free in a good reads giveaway. I thought this book was OK. I had a pretty good idea what was going to happen at the end...But i was Wrong. I thought Todd was the best character in this book.I found him to be Hilarius. The plot of the story was well thought out. It kept me well entertained all though out the book. I would recommend this book to anybody who is a fan of Megan Hart."

" Megan Hart draws me deeply into her diverse stories and makes me feel unexpected emotions in unconventional circumstances. I have read many her books and this is not what I expected. I think I got Stockholm Syndrome from this book. It was different and I truly enjoyed it. "

" This is a beautifully written, disturbing story of a typical mother's disturbing kidnapping. It was similar in tone to Room by Emma Donoghue (another dark kidnapping ordeal). I have a feeling this one will stick with me for a while. "

" As I stay at home mom I related to this book right from page 1, it was kinda amazing to be truthful. Never ran into a book like that. The end really got to me, but a mom has to do what she has to do! "

" Man, I was so twisted after reading this. I knew the ending was coming and helpless to stop it. It amazed me how Ms. Hart was able to bring sympathy for the abductor and somehow wish for his happiness as well. "

" Well, this book was definitely different. I can't say that I've read anything like it before. I didn't really get into either of the characters and just didn't feel that it was realistic. I wish they would have found out more about each other that would have given us a different ending. "

" Even though this book only revolved around two characters, kind of like Stephen King's Misery (minus the horrific mutilations) it never seems slow. It truly shows what a woman will do for the love of her children and how we all have an inner strength. "

" Listened to this book via Audible.com (edition not available). I'm not sure enjoyed is the right word for this book, I feel haunted by it. I think good stories should leave something behind when you invest the time in them, and this one certainly has. "

" The writing and story line kept me interested, which kept me reading. The characters were true to themselves through out the book, they may not have behaved the way I wanted them to, but in retrospect their behavior was consistent with their personalities. I waver between 3-4 stars. "
