Publisher Description

Playful Parenting means joining children in their world of play, focusing on connection and confidence, giggling and roughhousing, and following your child's lead. This audiobook is an exciting approach to raising children that will help you nurture close relationships and solve behavior problems.

Think about the loving gaze of an infant, the no-hold-barred embrace of a toddler, the intimacy of a shared bedtime story, or a silent hand-in-hand walk. These moments of heartfelt connection with our children are part of the great payoff for the hard work of parenting. Yet this connection all too often eludes us. We find ourselves locked in battle instead of joined in partnership. Play can be the long-sought bridge back to that deep emotional bond between parent and child.

"really enjoyed this book. Great suggestions of how to use play and humor to get through a lot of different situations and have fun with it! I also really liked reading about raising children from a play therapists viewpoint. The authors writing style was nice too - honest (admits he hates playing barbies and gets bored with some of his daughters games - but provides inspiring ways to get through it) and not preachy."

" So far, an inspiring book about how to keep play in parenting and use play to help my kids and our relationship (even at a time when I really don't feel like playing). "

" Probably most parents (myself included) could learn a lot from this book, about how to respond differently in a number of different parenting situations. But I think the pendulum has swung to far with this author. Teaching "good judgment" vs. teaching "to obey" is generally a good idea. But my three year old's good judgment is not always going to be good enough and sometimes he's going to need to simply obey. This book doesn't seem to make allowances for that. "
