Publisher Description

In this sequel to At the Earth's Core, David Innes vows revenge and returns to the inner world of Pellucidar to rescue the beautiful Dian, who had been torn from his arms by trickery. However, his return trip places him far from the land of his beloved, and he is forced to undertake a desperate journey thousands of miles across the fierce inner earth to reach her. David's epic voyage takes him through the many strange lands of Pellucidar, including the pendant moon and the Land of Awful Shadow. His heart-pounding encounters with primeval beasts and extraordinary peoples makes Pellucidar one of the best adventure stories ever penned by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

"I had the itch to try out an audio book from the master of adventure Edgar Rice Burroughs, and picked this up because the premise interested me more than any of his other works like Tarzan, or Barsoom series. I've seen the movies, and I got the flavor for those characters already in my mind so it was a better decision to dive into his other neglected worlds in his so called Burroughs universe. I enjoyed At The Earth's Core, which was the first in these books called the "Pellucidar" series. This was the second installment and I enjoyed it more than the first one, and judging by how this one flowed so easily over the course of a six hour length, I'm betting the rest are just a breeze to get through, and this is coming from someone who isn't very fond of older books written in a time way before me. The ideas of those stories seemed dated and wouldn't have interested me, but this had that flare of escapism without the lack of realistic circumstances. It was a world inside a world (of course a dated theory) but he wrote it in such a way, that you could believe that you were really there. Like I said, it flowed like honey and was easy to listen too, and I don't regret starting with the series. 4/5 stars."
