For millions of fans around the globe, the wait is over. Sequel to the international blockbuster best seller A Crown of Swords, this epic volume continues one of history's greatest fictional journeys and the most extraordinary work of American fantasy ever published--The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and worldwide best-selling series The Wheel of Time. The phenomenal tale that is mesmerizing a generation of readers now continues.

The Seanchan invasion force is in possession of Ebou Dar. Nynaeve, Elayne, and Aviendha head for Caemlyn and Elayne's rightful throne, but on the way they discover an enemy much worse than the Seanchan.

In Illian, Rand vows to throw the Seanchan back as he did once before. But signs of madness are appearing among the Asha'man.

In Ghealdan, Perrin faces the intrigues of Whitecloaks, Seanchan invaders, the scattered Shaido Aiel, and the Prophet himself. Perrin's beloved wife, Faile, may pay with her life, and Perrin himself may have to destroy his soul to save her.

Meanwhile, the rebel Aes Sedai under their young Amyrlin, Egwene al'Vere, face an army that intends to keep them away from the White Tower. But Egwene is determined to unseat the usurper Elaida and reunite the Aes Sedai. She does not yet understand the price that others - and she herself - will pay. Download and start listening now!

" <3 Robert Jordan is the best descriptive author I've ever read. Read him. You might learn somethin'. "

" I was surprised how much I enjoyed this one on my second read-through. I remember this being where things really started to slow down. This time, however, I saw where things were going and was able to enjoy the intrigue along the way a lot more. Plus, major events happened in the beginning of the book for once, instead of everything happening in the last 100 pages. "

" I got a little lost in this one. Jumping from one character to the next within a chapter has been done many times before in this series. However, I found it extremely difficult to follow during fighting sections of the book. It will be interesting to see how the next book progresses. "

" I enjoyed Path of Daggers more the second time than the first. Maybe it's because I took more time with it, or maybe it's because this time I wasn't using it as a reference for building its online roleplaying game equivalent. It had quite a few twists and turns in dramatic Robert Jordan fashion, including the ending which immediately had me scrambling for my copy of Winter's Heart. "

" Some people told me this book was slow compared to the others, but I didn't think so at all! I love how everything is just building and building - can't wait to read the next one!! "

" Better than the previous couple of books, a lot more action, less adjusting of shawls, though it's the first one to end with all arcs in cliffhangers. If I had to wait a year to read the next one I would not be very happy. "

" I can't even remember what happened here. There is a lot of complicated plot-weaving so I'm hoping it all comes good in the end. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Marsha Carmichael | 10/13/2011

" I heard about this series for years but it never crossed my path... Until it did! Then... I couldn't put the book down! Wish I could not read the series so I could read it again as a newbie!! "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Alexander Adamson | 8/31/2011

" I loved this series. It moved a bit slow and he was trying to keep track of a million different characters at once. But I have not read any author that was as descriptive as Robert Jordan is. At this time he is my favorite author. It is too bad he could not have lived forever. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Graeme Brown | 8/12/2011

" This book was like book seven in its pacing, which I found a bit disappointing. Sometimes I wasn't sure where it was leading. The end was less climatic than that of seven, and Mat's absence is disappointing. The scene when Rand calls lightning down with Callandor in Illian, though, is unforgettable. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Rachael | 6/20/2011

" This book felt like a filler episode. I am sure I will be glad I read it as I continue reading this epic series but for now, I don't feel very satisfied. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Chaffee | 1/29/2011

" Another great one in the Wheel of Time series. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Phillip | 1/6/2011

" This thing dragged like a rake through leaves. It took forever to get to the end. Spent way to much time on trivial moment by moment descriptions and very little plot advancement. Read it so you don't miss a few of the major revelations, just expect it won't be your favorite. "
